Event Information

Event Description:
One breath and one stair at a time, the American Lung Association in Colorado and an anticipated 2400 Coloradans will climb Republic Plaza, the tallest building in the Rocky Mountain West, to take steps in our fight to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. This year's goal is to raise $500,000 for the programs and services of ALAC. Climbers will take off in 8-second intervals and climb 56 floors and 1,098 steps to reach the stunning views of Denver's skyline. Upon completeing the climb individuals will take the elevator back to the lobby for food, fun and interactive booths. Participants can climb as a team or as an individual, although everyone completes the full climb and must meet the $65 fundraising minimum. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories including fastest climbers, highest fundraisers, and best costume.

Packet Pick-up Times and Locations
Packet pick-up will be available on climb day.  However, you can also pick-up your packet in advance at following times and locations:

Friday, February 24th
American Lung Association in Colorado (5600 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Suite 100, Greenwood Village)
7:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.

Friday, February 24th
Republic Plaza (370 17th Street, Denver)
Lobby Level, 17th Street side of Republic Plaza
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 25th
Republic Plaza (370 17th Street, Denver)
Lobby Level, 17th Street side of Republic Plaza
11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

FINAL REMINDER: If you will be picking-up packets for your teammates, please let us know by next Thursday, February 23rd at 10:00 a.m. so we can pre-bundle your packets.  By letting us know, the packet pick-up process with run more smoothly.

Know Your Bib Number
On race day and at packet pick-up all bibs and timing chips will be organized by bib number.  Please check http://www.lung.org/pledge-events/co/denver-climb-fy12/ prior to event day to receive your bib number.  Bib numbers will be posted with the start times starting February 20th. 

When to Arrive and Where to Go
In order to ensure that climbers do not miss their start times and have plenty of time to prepare for the climb, we encourage all participants to arrive at the Republic Plaza at least 60 minutes prior to their scheduled start time.  Additionally, all climbers are expected to report to the stairwell area 20 minutes prior to their start time. The start line will be located on the lower level of the Republic Plaza.  All participants will be required to enter the building from the 16th st. side  If you will be turning in pledges day-of to meet the minimum, please plan to arrive 90 minutes prior to start time.

Parking
Free covered parking will be provided on the day of the event.  The parking garage is located at 15th and Tremont, approximately two blocks from the building entrance.  And remember, please leave extra belongings in the car as gear check space is limited!!

Reminder: $65 required to Climb!
We want to make sure everyone is able to climb in support of lung health.  As a reminder, all participants must each raise $65 in pledges in order to pick up their packet and participate in the climb.  Please try to have the $65 minimum met by Thursday, Feb. 23rd by 10:00 a.m. to avoid any delays when picking-up your packet. You may turn in pledges at the event; however, we strongly encourage you to turn pledges in ahead of time to avoid long lines and possible delays in your start time.

Gear Check
Gear check will be available and located on the concourse level of the building at the climb.  Space is very limited so please leave all bulky items as well as valuables in the car. 

Come to Rialto Café After You Climb!
Head down the 16th St. mall after you climb for some great food and drinks at Rialto Café.  Show Rialto Café your bib and get 1 complimentary mimosa or bloody mary with the purchase of a mimosa, bloody mary or an entrée from our brunch menu. (Does not include bottomless mimosas).  This is the perfect spot to celebrate with your team and fellow stair climbers!  Don’t miss it!

Post-Event Celebration
Come celebrate your fundraising & climbing accomplishments at the post-event celebration.  The party will take place Tuesday, April 10th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Fado Irish Pub.  Please RSVP to ltoohey@lungcolorado.org.

Final Training Climb
Due to maintenance in the stairwell at 1800 Glenarm the final practice climb has been cancelled.  However, Bonza Bodies will open up 2 classes that participants can sign-up for.  The classes are 50 minutes.  One will start at 5:30 and another at 6:30.  Participants will be asked to make a $5 donation and sign a waiver.  You will receive a full body workout run by owner of Bonza Bodies, Jamie Atlas!  Classes will be reserved for the first 30 registrants.  Sign-up at http://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ws.asp?studioid=14036&stype=-8.
