Each year, too many lives are lost to lung disease and this is your chance to walk, raise money and make an impact in their honor. By joining the Fight For Air Walk you are making the commitment to fight lung disease so everyone can breathe easier- including you!
Event Overview
This October, families, individuals and teams will join together at the Fight For Air Walk - Santa Monica to raise awareness for the 37 million Americans who suffer from lung disease.
Please join the thousands of individuals across the nation who believe in the cause and will walk in their communities as well.
You can get involved by:
- Registering as a Team Captain
- Joining an existing team as a new registrant
- Signing up as an individual registrant
- Sponsoring the event
- Joining the event planning committee
- Making a contribution supporting a registrant
Event Information
At the walk, held on Sunday, October 21, 2012, participants from all over Greater Los Angeles will enjoy the 2.55-mile scenic route around the beautiful Downtown Santa Monica area to support the fight for clean air. The start/finish line and a festival area will be held on Third Street between Santa Monica and Arizona.
Need help keeping track of your donations? Download a Donation Tracking Sheet. You can mail it into your local office, or bring it with you on the day of the walk.
Participants may register at any time leading up to the Walk by choosing the appropriate option under "Sign Up" on the left side of this page. You will have the option to start a team, join a team, join as an individual or as a volunteer.
All participants who individually raise at least $100 will receive a complimentary t-shirt.
Event Route
Our route is approximately 2.55 miles, starting and ending at the Third Street Promenade. It is flat route, so its perfect for strollers and wheelchairs. Click to download the route map.

Directions
From the East- Take the I-10 W
- Take exit 1A for 4th St./5th St.
- Keep leftat the fork, follow signs for 4th St.
- Turn right onto 4th St.
- Turn left onto Arizona Ave.
Mass Transit
We encourage you to use public transportation.

Parking
There are several lots surrounding the 3rd Street Promenade that offer the first 2 hours free. Rates vary after the 2 hour window. We suggest the following lots: S2, S3, S4, S5, and S6. Please note that there are restrooms in each parking structure and in Palisade Park. There will not be any onsite at walk start/finish line on the Promenade.

New Bike Valet, provided by Central Parking

Be green and ride your bike to the walk! Central parking will be providing bike valet FREE of charge to any participant of the Fight For Air Walk. Simply ride up, check your bike and they will park it safely fo ryou right on the Promenade. Hours of operation are from 8am-12pm.
Fundraising
We encourage you to fund raise at least $100 toward the cause. This is easier than you think! It is as easy as asking 10 friends for $10. Coaching packets and trainings are available. Please contact our office for more details at 213-384-5864 or vanessa.petersen@lung.org.
Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. The American Lung Association® is a registered 501(c)3 organization. Please make checks payable to the American Lung Association in California.
A fundraising packet is available to help you reach your fundraising minimum. Check out the "Fundraising Help" page on the main menu.
