The FIRST TIME
you attempt to use your social networking account on this site, you will have to:

If you DON’T already have a LungUSA.org website account: During the social networking validation step, verify the information that was obtained from your social networking site and click “Register”.

4 Ways to Participate

Start a Team
Choose this if you would like to start your own team for your friends, family, or company. You will have the opportunity to set up your team, create a team page, and also have a personal fundraising page.
Join a Team
Choose this if you want to join a team that has already been set up by your team captain. You will be able to see how your fundraising supports your team and you will also be able to have a personal fundraising page.
Join as an Individual
Choose this if you are not starting or joining a team and would prefer to participate as an individual. You will be able to set up a personal fundraising page to share with your friends to support your fundraising efforts.
Volunteer
If you prefer not to participate but would rather volunteer for the event, click here. You will still be able to join a team and set up a personal fundraising page if you wish to raise money for the event.

3 Ways to Donate

Sponsor a Walker
Choose this if you would like to donate to a specific individual. Your donation will increase the fundraising total for the specific individual. If that individual is on a team, it will also increase the team's fundraising total. You will be able to search for a specific participant to which to donate.
Donate to a Team
Choose this if you would like donate to a team and not a specific participant. Your donation will increase the team fundraising total but not a specific individual on the team. You will be able to search for a specific team to which to donate.
Donate to the Event
Choose this if you would like to donate to the overall event and not to a team or individual. Your donation will increase the fundraising total on the event thermometer but will not support a specific team or individual participant. You will not be able to search for a specific team or individual participant to which to donate.

Each year, too many lives are lost to lung disease and this is your chance to walk, raise money and make an impact in their honor. By joining the Fight for Walk you are making the commitment to fight lung disease so everyone can breathe easier- including you!

Event Overview
Families, individuals and teams join together in a walk to raise awareness for the 35 million Americans who suffer from asthma. Participants work together to fundraise.

Please join the thousands of individuals across the nation who believe in the cause and will walk in their communities as well.

You can get involved by:

Registering as a Team Captain
Joining an existing Team as a new registrant
Signing up as an individual registrant
Sponsoring the event
Joining the event planning committee
Making a contribution supporting a registrant

Event Information
You may register at any time on the www.fightforairwalk.org website. The walk will be held on October 15, 2011 at Crown Memorial Beach.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.

Opening ceremony begins at 8:45 a.m.

Walk begins at 9:15 a.m.

All participants who individually raise at least $100 will receive a complimentary t-shirt.

Directions
Google Map

From San Francisco, take the Bay Bridge to I-580 east and I-980 (downtown Oakland). Exit I-980 at 11th/12th Streets, go through several traffic lights and make a left onto 5th Street. This will take you to Broadway and the Oakland/Alameda Tube. Once through the Tube, you'll be on Webster Street. Webster will dead end at Central Avenue. Turn left onto Central and right onto Eighth Street to reach the Crown Beach entrance.

From Interstate 880 in Alameda County, exit Broadway/Alameda (exit 42). Follow the signs for the Webster Tunnel, and when you come above ground again, stay to the left on Constitution Way. Constitution Way changes to 8th Street at Lincoln Avenue -- proceed on 8th Street to Otis Way and the park entrance on the right.

Mass Transit

You may ride AC Transit from the 12^th Street BART Station in Oakland.

Pick up AC Transit Line 51A towards Fruitvale BART Station at the NW Corner of Broadway and 12^th Street. Exit the bus at the Santa Clara Avenue and 8^th Street stop. The Park entrance is at 8th Street and Otis Drive.

Parking
Parking is available at beach parking lots; seasonal parking fee of $5 may apply.

Fundraising
We encourage you to fund raise at least $100 toward the cause. This is easier than you think! It is as easy as asking 10 friends for $10. Coaching packets and trainings are available. Please contact our office for more details 510-638-5864.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. The American Lung Association ® is a registered 501 (c) 3 organization. Please make checks payable to the American Lung Association in California.

A fundraising packet is available to help you reach your fundraising minimum. Check out the "Fundraising Help" page on the main menu.
