The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Clinical Trials Center / Airway Research (CTC/AR) staff investigates and validates new and existing therapies for airway conditions. The CTC/AR, located in Hillcrest next to the UCSD Medical Center, is a state-of-the-art facility designed for clinical research in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.

The program director Dr. Joe Ramsdell and the CTC/AR staff have more than 30 years of experience conducting collaborative, investigator-initiated and pharmaceutical clinical research.

The CTC/AR is part of two National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded networks focusing on clinical trials involving airways disease; the American Lung Association funded ACRC and the NIH funded COPD Gene; as well as the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute  funded single-site Smoking in Asthmatics Pilot Study.
