Grammy Award-winning singer Patti LaBelle is passionate about lending her powerful voice to the LUNG FORCE initiative. Patti lost two of her sisters to lung cancer in their early 40s and is dedicated to encouraging more women to make their lung health a priority.
"It's very important to me to share my voice in memory of my sisters. Their story is all too common – in the U.S., one woman will die from lung cancer every 8 minutes. Unfortunately, most lung cancer cases are diagnosed late, when treatment options are limited, but there is hope and progress happening. I'm proud to be a part of the fast-growing LUNG FORCE initiative and passionate about encouraging others to join and take action so we can defeat lung cancer."
Female NASCAR standout Mackena Bell pushes the limits on the racetrack, but when it comes to health matters, she doesn't take chances. In fact, after losing a loved one to lung cancer, Mackena felt compelled to speak up about lung cancer and educate others about lung cancer's real risk factors.
"I was devastated when I lost my grandfather, Papa, to lung cancer. He was my rock and was always supportive of my racing career. I'm joining LUNG FORCE, an initiative which educates and rallies people together to end lung cancer, because it's something I'm truly passionate about and a cause the general public should care about, too."
After spending 39 days on the island of Fiji competing in, and winning, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X in 2016, Adam returned home to be with his mother, Susie, who had been battling stage 4 lung cancer. Just one hour after returning home, his mom lost her battle to the disease.
Adam has joined the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE to inspire others to #LiveLikeSusie and raise awareness of the #1 cancer killer.
"Early detection and more effective treatment options will save lives which is why I've committed myself to raising awareness of lung cancer as well as critical funding for research in the fight against this disease."
