Fighting for Healthy Air

“When I had COPD, an ozone day was potentially disastrous.” Read why Dan Dolan-Laughlin is fighting for healthy air.

Millions of Americans live in areas where air pollution reaches unhealthy levels. The American Lung Association leads the fight for healthy air every day. We advocate for stronger clean air standards, lower power plant emissions, and cleaner fuels and vehicles.

What We Do

The American Lung Association has led the fight for healthy air for more than 50 years. Our primary tool is advocacy. We work to influence public policy and ensure enforcement of laws that help us clean up our air. Learn more about what we do.

Clean Air Act

The Clean Air Act has provided the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the responsibility and the authority to protect and clean up the nation's air since 1970. The American Lung Association fights hard to prevent anyone from weakening or undermining the law or the protective standards the law provides. Learn more about the Clean Air Act.
