Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment

What are the symptoms of SIDS?

SIDS deaths are unexpected and unexplained. Almost all SIDS deaths occur without any warning or symptoms when the infant is thought to be sleeping. It does not appear that babies who die of SIDS suffer or struggle.

How is SIDS identified?

The identification of a SIDS case can be made only after a thorough investigation of an infant's unexplained death. This includes an autopsy, death scene investigation, a review of the infant's health status before dying and a family medical history.
