The American Lung Association actively advocates for policies at the federal level to benefit people with asthma and their families. We speak up for people with asthma with many federal agencies whose work directly affects policies, funding and programs, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and others. To learn more about our recommendations to improve federal policies to benefit people with asthma, see the National Asthma Public Policy Agenda.

  • The Lung Association also fights to remove or reduce asthma triggers from the outdoor air. For more information on this work, click here.
  • We also advocate for increased funding for research to determine better ways to treat and manage asthma. For more details on American Lung Association efforts to increase federal funding for asthma, please click here.
