Get instant rebates when you exchange your old wood-burning hydronic heater or stove with a newer energy-efficient appliance. Exchanging out your old heating appliance will help protect our clean air, and the new appliance will be cheaper to operate.

The American Lung Association, in partnership with Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), are offering rebates on the following types of appliances:

Eligibility

  • Customers must work through a Participating Retailer to apply for a rebate.
  • To qualify the old wood-burning appliance must be non-EPA certified and be the primary source of residential heat.
  • Eligible customers must reside in the following counties: Brown, Calumet, Clark, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Marathon, Oconto, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Taylor, Waupaca or Wood.
  • Income Qualified Rebates are available for customers who participate in one of the following programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medical Assistance, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, Income Qualified Home Energy Assistance Program or WPS Income Qualified Application, available through any Participating Retailer.

How to Apply for a Rebate

  • As a homeowner you will work directly with a Participating Retailer to apply by filling out an application for a rebate voucher.
  • The Retailer will forward your application to the American Lung Association for review and approval.
  • The American Lung Association will notify the Retailer of your application status within five business days.
  • You will then be notified by your retailer of your eligibility to receive a General or Income Qualified Rebate.

Other Program Requirements

  • Once approved, you will have 60 days to purchase and install your new appliance.
  • Appliances must be installed by a certified professional.
  • Customers who install a new appliance must surrender the old appliance to be properly disposed of at a recycling facility.
