The American Lung Association LUNG FORCE Heroes are lung cancer survivors, caretakers and anyone who is impacted by the number one cancer killer in the U.S.
Our LUNG FORCE Heroes share their stories to inspire, but are also active in fundraising for lifesaving research, supporting those impacted by lung disease and even traveling to Washington D.C. to help advocate for clean air.

In the spring of 2014, Dorothy Scroggins' mother Franky was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer that had metastasized to her liver. That same day she learned that she just had a short 18 months to live.
"Despite these tough odds, Mom still chooses to fight and we are with her every step of the way," said Dorothy.
Now, three years after her diagnosis, Franky is beating the odds. Dorothy attributes her mother's survival to a combination of prayer, support, excellent oncology care and lifesaving research.
"None of this would be possible without the ground-breaking research driven by the American Lung Association," said Dorothy. "The research allowed treatments in pill form that ended the cycle of symptoms such as hair loss and that targets the DNA of the cancer cells."
Now, Dorothy participates in the Fight For Air Climb to raise money to support the American Lung Association. She also traveled to Washington D.C. for LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day to fight for a cure for lung cancer and clean air for all.
"Let's fight the odds. Let's change the odds. Let's beat the odds, together," said Dorothy.
