Congratulations! If you are thinking about quitting smoking, you’ve taken the first step to quitting for good.

Freedom From Smoking®, the leading adult smoking cessation program for over 30 years, shows you how to quit in a safe, supportive environment. You’ll be given the tools and resources to overcome your tobacco addiction so you can enjoy the benefits of better health, extra money in your pocket and healthier relationships.

The upcoming Freedom From Smoking® Clinic will be held on June 4 - July 16 at the Marshall Medical Center in Placerville.

Clinic sessions will be on Monday evenings from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Registration fee is $75. Registration is free for Marshall employees and their spouses/domestic partners. Space is limited. Please contact clinic facilitator Denice Bragg at 530-626-2990 or dbragg@marshallmedical.org to reserve your seat at the clinic.

What is Freedom From Smoking®?

Since it was introduced over 30 years ago, the American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking® program has helped over a million Americans end their addiction to nicotine and begin new smokefree lives. Freedom From Smoking® was ranked the most effective smoking cessation program in a study by Fordham University Graduate School of Business.

How does it work?

In the group clinic, you will meet with a small group of people so you get personalized attention. And because no two smokers are alike, the program helps you create your own individualized quit plan. Having the support of others is important while quitting smoking. The other people in the program know exactly what you are going these and provide support when you need it most.

Who teaches the program?

Freedom from Smoking is taught by an American Lung Association-trained facilitator.

What do we learn?

Over the course of the clinic program you will learn about:

  • Why you smoke and what motivates you to want to quit
  • Medicines that can help you stop smoking
  • Lifestyle changes that make quitting easier
  • Preparing for Quit Day
  • Coping strategies
  • Managing stress
  • Avoiding weight gain
  • Developing a new self-image
  • How to stay smoke-free for good
  • You will also get a participant workbook and recorded relaxation exercises to take home.
