What is Champ Camp?
Champ Camp is an educational and fun week-long summer camp for children with asthma (ages 7-14). Children gain confidence in themselves and their ability to take control of their asthma while enjoying activities like canoing, hiking, and rock climbing! Champ Camp changes the lives of children who suffer from asthma and offers them the tools to overcome their lifelong fear of not being able to breathe.
Volunteers, including medical staff, are on site 24 hours a day for the entire camp to ensure safety and a great experience. Since 1979, Champ Camp has impacted thousands of lives, saved many lives of children with severe asthma and taught them how to become leaders within their communities and to efficiently and effectively manage their asthma.

How does my money help a child?
Champ Camp costs the American Lung Association in Colorado $1,100 per child. Due to donors and funders, no family will ever pay more than $450. That being said, no child is denied Champ Camp due to financial constraints. Each family applying to Camp will be able to apply for financial aid. In 2015, out of 86 children, only 12 families paid the full tuition and 64 families paid nothing. Champ Camp targets families who may not be able to afford medications or doctor appointments. Every penny donated helps to send a child to Camp!
