It doesn’t take a mountain for the climb of your life. You can join the many dedicated people across our country, who are stepping up for those who can’t.
The American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb is a unique fundraising event. It is a vertical climb, up the stairs of some of our tallest buildings.
It is a challenge of your lungs, your physical stamina and your determination to end lung disease. You will be climbing for those affected by Asthma, from infants to older adults.
You will be climbing for those who have been diagnosed with Lung Cancer, which is the leading cancer killer and afflicts both smokers and non-smokers.
You will be climbing for those who suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and struggle to breathe every day of their lives.
The climb will take you to the top floors of one of your city’s tallest buildings, one step at a time. Floor by floor, you will be raising awareness and funds for the fight against breadth taking lung diseases. You will be climbing because you care.
The Fight for Air Climb is about raising funds for research, advocacy for cleaner air, and support for those who want healthy lungs and freedom from smoking. It is however, also about you. Each and every participant in the Fight for Air Climb will benefit.
Stair climbing, which is now a world wide sport, is a total body workout. It is excellent for cross training, burns about twice as many calories as any other sport, and when done regularly, is effective for weight loss. It requires no special equipment and can be done by anyone in good health. You can climb at your own pace or compete competitively. Our training guide, available after registering, offers excellent tips for achieving your personal goals. Whether you are a senior citizen, a young family or a serious athlete, your participation in a Fight for Air Climb makes you a winner before you even start!
Lung diseases have no boundaries. They strike our loved ones everyday and make just one step a climb for those affected. But together, we can make a difference. Whether individually or as a team, you can step up and sign up for your climb, now!
A Look At Our Building:
Carew Tower is the highest “elevated” building in the city, although is technically only the second tallest building. Although it has 49 stories, the modern elevator ends on the 45th floor. The climb will be 45 floors, 804 steps. Carew Tower has 8,000 windows and 4 million bricks in the outer structure. Unique to the Cincinnati Climb is a Vertical Mile Challenge. (This category of climbers requires permission and is limited to athletes in top physical condition.)
