Swedish Cancer Institute Signs on as Presenting Sponsor of American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE and Breathe Easy Breakfast Events
(April 24, 2015) -
The Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) has joined the fight against lung cancer and for lung health by signing on as the presenting sponsor of the American Lung Association in Washington’s LUNG FORCE Walk and Breathe Easy Breakfast, committing a $20,000 donation to the cause.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Swedish Cancer Institute as our presenting sponsor of LUNG FORCE this year,” said Matt DeGooyer, Executive Director at the American Lung Association in Washington. “When a leading health care organization partners with us in our mission, it sends a strong message that now is the time to increase early detection of lung cancer and improve patient outcomes.”
The LUNG FORCE Walk will take place on May 9 in South Lake Union. The SCI will join hundreds of other patients, survivors and supporters in forming a team to raise money for the cause and walk together to raise awareness of lung cancer, especially its rise among women. They will also have a booth at the walk with information on lung cancer screening and cancer treatment options.
In addition, the SCI will sponsor the Lung Association’s May 28 Breathe Easy Breakfast, a breakfast event highlighting the achievements of the American Lung Association and honoring community members and organizations that are making a difference in protecting lung health and clean air.
“Swedish is pleased to partner with the American Lung Association to raise awareness and support for lung cancer, particularly in women,” said Joelle Fathi, DNP, Nurse Practitioner and Program Director for the Swedish Lung Cancer Screening Program. “When organizations work together like this, the results can be powerful and inspiring.”
This presenting sponsorship from the SCI will help the American Lung Association in Washington raise funds for research, education, and advocacy to fight against lung cancer and promote lung health.
