Statement by American Lung Association in California on Governor Brown’s Executive Order On Greenhouse Gas Targets
(April 29, 2015)
The American Lung Association in California applauds Governor Brown’s bold leadership on climate change today. As demonstrated by our report, too many people are breathing unhealthy air in California and climate change is worsening air quality conditions. Governor Brown’s target of 40% reduction in greenhouse gases by 2030 is exactly the right prescription for California. This target is critical to keep California moving forward in the transition to clean transportation, clean energy sources and a clean energy economy. Achieving reductions in climate pollution will help everyone in California breathe easier and reduce the costly health burden from air pollution faced by communities. The American Lung Association in California and the health community stongly support this important step forward for clean air and healthy lungs.
