One Thousand Take a Stand against Lung Cancer

(September 29, 2014)

This past Sunday, September 28, almost one thousand people gathered to take a stand against lung cancer and participated in the first-ever LUNG FORCE Walk-Oak Brook, sponsored locally by Northwestern Medicine. The event was unique and festive that will make a difference for lung cancer detection, research and cures.

Lung cancer patients, survivors, families and corporate teams from across the state walked to raise awareness and funding for lung cancer research. They joined NBC 5 anchor Rob Elgas, who emceed the event, for the 3.1 mile walk at McDonald’s Hamburger University in Oak Brook.

Complete fundraising numbers are still coming in, but we can safely report more than $160,000 raised and counting; surpassing last year’s fundraising number of $130,000. Readers can still support the Walk and Lung Association by calling 312-781-1100 to make a donation.
