American Lung Association Announces PerkinElmer as a Sponsor for the LUNG FORCE Walk: Boston
(April 14, 2015)
The American Lung Association is pleased to announce PerkinElmer, Inc. as a sponsor of its inaugural LUNG FORCE Walk Boston which will be held on Thursday, May 14 on Boston Common. The LUNG FORCE Walk will not only make a difference in the lives of people living with lung disease and their families, but raise everyone’s awareness about how to protect their lung health and recognize the signs and symptoms of lung disease.
“PerkinElmer is honored to sponsor the American Lung Association’s first LUNG FORCE Walk in Boston,” said Jon DiVincenzo, President, Environmental Health, PerkinElmer. “We are committed to helping communities and citizens better understand air quality so they are empowered to make smarter and more informed decisions for better outcomes. Our innovative detection and monitoring solutions for air quality support the Lung Association’s mission to improve lung health and prevent lung disease,” DiVincenzo said.
In May, the American Lung Association launched its LUNG FORCE movement to raise awareness and much needed funds to help defeat lung cancer in women. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of women. Yet, the disease is not even on women’s radar, according to the American Lung Association’s inaugural Women’s Lung Health Barometer — a survey that measured women’s awareness, knowledge and perceptions about lung cancer. When asked to identify cancers that affect women, only 1 percent cited lung cancer on a top-of-mind basis. The public can learn more and join the movement at LungForce.org. Several other LUNG FORCE walks are being planned across the Northeast in 2015.
PerkinElmer is a global leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment. The company reported revenue of approximately $2.2 billion in 2014, has about 7,700 employees and serves customers in more than 150 countries. “We’re proud to have PerkinElmer as a sponsor of our LUNG FORCE Walk in Boston,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast. “Their commitment to improving human and environmental health is important to the Lung Association’s mission of improving lung health and preventing lung disease. We are looking forward to working with PerkinElmer and thank them for their generous support of our LUNG FORCE campaign.
