Hundreds Will Cycle Length of Cape Cod to Benefit American Lung Association This Weekend

Who: More than 500 cyclists and volunteers will gather in Cape Cod for the annual Autumn Escape Bike Trek presented by Sunovion. Sponsors for the event include Kindred Healthcare, Yale School of Medicine, AstraZeneca, Genentech, Back Bay Bicycles, Magic 106.7 and local companies, Mayflower Brewing Company, Plymouth Rock Racing and the Hilton Garden Inn - Plymouth.
What: Participants will cycle 160 miles over 3 days in hopes of raising more than $372,000 for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.
When: Friday, September 25-Sunday, September 27; trekkers take off at 9 a.m. on Friday, 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, 8:00 a.m. on Sunday and return between 1-3 p.m. each day.
Where: Friday - The start line is located at the Hilton Garden Inn, 4 Home Depot Drive, Plymouth. Trekkers cross the Day 1 finish line at Camp Burgess, 75 Stowe Road, Sandwich.
Saturday - Trekkers depart from Camp Burgess and cross the Day 2 finish line at Cape Cod Sea Camps, 3057 Main Street, Brewster.
Sunday - Trekkers depart from Cape Cod Sea Camps and cross the final finish line at the Veteran's Memorial School/Community Center, 8 Winslow Road, Provincetown.
Why: For over 100 years, the American Lung Association has been at the forefront in the Fight for Air. All proceeds from the Autumn Escape Bike Trek directly fund lung disease research, advocacy, and education; including COPD/asthma management, smoking cessation programs, and advocacy for stronger clean air standards.
Note to editors: There will be opportunities to film and photograph trekkers. Spokespersons from the Lung Association will also be on site as will individuals and families affected by asthma and lung disease.
