On Sunday, September 10, more than 5,000 people stood up to fight lung disease at the 37th Annual Omaha Corporate Cup powered by Green Plains, Inc. The American Lung Association event raised approximately $330,000, which provides support, education, research and advocacy for the 125,000 Nebraskans who suffer from lung disease.

“This year’s event was a testament to the incredible ability of the Omaha community to come together for a great cause,” said Julia McCarville, executive director of the Lung Association in Nebraska. “We had thousands of runners and walkers who came out to fight lung disease, local companies who rallied employees and funds, and amazing volunteers who gave their Sunday to help our community.”

The 10K and 2 Mile run/walk is the Lung Association in Nebraska’s signature fundraising event and is one of the largest corporate road races in the United States. Green Plains, Inc., the presenting sponsor of the 37th Annual Omaha Corporate Cup, had one of the largest teams with more than 100 employees running and walking the race. Select Specialty Hospital was the top fundraising team, raising a total of $3,456 to date.

In total, the 37th Annual Omaha Corporate Cup resulted in:

• 5,000 runners and walkers
• 135 teams
• Approximately $330,000 raised

To further lung disease support and education, the Lung Association will host a LUNG FORCE Expo on October 24 in Omaha.
