Marilyn Pinaud Joins Lung Cancer Advocates from Every State on Capitol Hill to Fight for More Research Funding

Marilyn Pinaud of Nederland, Colorado joined the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE initiative and “LUNG FORCE Heroes” – Americans personally impacted by lung cancer – from every state at the U.S. Capitol to press Members of Congress for continued bipartisan momentum toward defeating lung cancer.

During Advocacy Day, Marilyn shared her personal experience with lung cancer. “When I received my lung cancer diagnosis I was shocked, it is something you think you’ll never hear – think will never happen to you,” said Pinaud, who is now in remission. “The truth is, anyone can be diagnosed with this disease. It is critical that we commit to educating everyone on the risks and prevalence of lung cancer so that cases can be detected early on, when the most treatment options are available.”

“Currently, only 4% of all cancer survivors are lung cancer survivors. It is critical that more focus be put on finding new lung cancer treatments,” said Pinaud. “I hope that through Advocacy Day, we were able to illustrate lung cancer’s impact on Americans and that Congress will be motivated to give this disease the attention and critical research funding it deserves.”

Marilyn encourages everyone to advocate for lung cancer research to your Members of Congress in Washington, D.C. To learn more about Marilyn’s story  and the LUNG FORCE initiative, visit
