Volunteers needed for the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb-Race Up Boston Place

(January 19, 2015)

(Waltham, MA) – The American Lung Association is looking for dedicated volunteers to help with its Fight for Air Climb-Race Up Boston Place on Saturday, February 7, 2015. The event brings in more than 2,000 participants, including firefighters who climb One Boston Place in their full gear.

Fight for Air Climbs are the American Lung Association’s most unique fundraisers. Climbs take place in prominent skyscrapers, stadiums or arenas and involve walking, running or racing up hundreds of steps. Sometimes called a "vertical road race," teams and individual participants can use the event as a fitness target, as a race, or as a great way to be active and meet new friends.

“Our Fight for Air Climb in Boston is one of our biggest events, bringing in thousands of people,” said Jeff Seyler President and CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast. If we didn’t have the help of our dedicated volunteers, events like the Boston climb would not operate as smoothly as they do on an annual basis. Our volunteers are true members of the American Lung Association team and help us spread our mission of improving lung health and preventing lung disease.” We welcome anyone who interested in volunteering their time and efforts to supporting our important work fighting lung cancer, asthma, COPD and all lung disease,” Seyler said.

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. at the BNY Mellon Center and the first climbers begin at 8 a.m. At 12 p.m. the firefighter challenge begins, followed by the awards ceremony which will take place at Scholars Boston Bistro at 25 School Street.
