Tomorrow: Bennington Battle Monument to Host American Lung Association’s Annual Fight for Air Climb

Who: American Lung Association of the Northeast and 120 participants and volunteers, including 20 firefighters will “Fight for Air” at the Annual Fight for Air Climb at the Bennington Battle Monument. The Fight for Air Climb: Bennington is nationally sponsored by Kindred Healthcare. The event is also sponsored by Carbone Auto Group, Southwestern Vermont Health Care, Bennington Rescue Squad, Ramuntos Brick Oven Pizza, Liberty Mutual, NSK Steering Systems, Let’s Grow Kids, Jaeger & Flynn Associates and Bennington Banner.
What: Participants will walk or run up 438 stairs, also known as a “vertical road race” to help raise funds for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.
When: Saturday, June 6. Registration opens promptly at 9 a.m. and the first climber takes off at 10 a.m. The first firefighters will take off at approximately 11:30 a.m. when the separate Firefighter Challenge begins.
Where: 15 Monument Circle. The awards announcement will take place approximately one hour after the last climber has finished and will take place on Monument grounds.
Why: For over 100 years, the American Lung Association has been at the forefront of the Fight for Air. All proceeds from the Fight for Air Climb in Bennington will directly fund lung disease research, advocacy and education; including smoking cessation programs, COPD/asthma management, and advocacy for stronger clean air standards.
