Tami Corbin

Recently Tami Corbin put her own business on hold to help cultivate and facilitate a new event that was implemented in a six week time frame. The American Lung Association in the Southwest sponsored an “Our Live Colorfully Fashion Show” featuring designs by Kate Spade and hosted by Mathew Gray Gubler, star of the CBS hit show, “Criminal Minds.” Tami served as co-chair of the event and collected 82 silent auction items with the help of other volunteers. She met with other members in the community that have implemented similar events to learn what mistakes to avoid and how to make the event successful by bringing in the most revenue for the ALA.

Tami is extremely clever and creative when it comes to organizing a large scale event and handling silent auction items. She had every item spread out in her living and dining room for weeks before the event. Each item was labeled and displayed concisely to maximize the space and have the best visual effect for when the attendees walked off the elevator and into the ballroom.

Tami’s tenacious energy and passion for our mission helped engage local businesses to donate generous items. Not only that, but her husband also purchased a corporate sponsorship and both helped recruit volunteers and attendees for the event. She spent countless hours making sure that our Fashion Show would ultimately help reach our fundraising goal. Over $16,000 was raised from the silent auction.

Tami also serves as a Board Member for the American Lung Association in Nevada and has taken part in all fundraising events. Whether it is the walk, stair climb or the fashion show, she has participated, raised funds and motivated other people to do the same.

According to Stacie Irish, Program Coordinator for the Las Vegas office, “Tami is a model volunteer for our organization. Without her, the silent auction for the fashion show would not have been a success. Besides devoting the past six weeks to the Fashion Show, she has been an active board member of the ALA in Nevada and has become my mentor. She is an exceptional woman, friend, volunteer and devoted wife and mother of three.”
