Sydnie DeGraff

Although young, Sydnie is an invaluable volunteer for the American Lung Association in Arizona. At the age of 10, Sydnie served as the 2012 Phoenix Fight For Air Walk Youth Ambassador. Sydnie has asthma and she spent the past year sharing her story and allowing others to understand just what it is like to have asthma. She encouraged others to participate and raise much needed funds for the American Lung Association in Arizona.

Sydnie worked with her mother, Teresa, and Lonie Padilla, Manager of Special Events with the American Lung Association in Arizona to fundraise and organize events for her school. Sydnie was also a part of the Fight For Air Walk Public Service Announcement on FOX10, helping publicize the event. At the 2012 Fight For Air Walk Kick Off Luncheon, Sydnie was asked to share her story and encourage others to participate and raise funds for the American Lung Association. Politely declining staff’s offer to assist with speech writing, Sydnie wrote and delivered her own speech flawlessly to a room of 50 + people. AND she did an excellent job!

Sydnie’s family team raised MORE THAN $5,800. Sydnie played such an important role in the Walk this year. At the awards ceremony, Sydnie was the BIG winner of the night. She walked away with several awards for her efforts in the 2012 Fight For Air Walk. She received an award for her Youth Ambassador role, Top Family Team and Top Individual Fundraiser.

Sydnie is truly inspiring to all of us, not matter our age. She motivated her family, friends, business community, and the staff members in Phoenix by her dedication to the Youth Ambassador role.
