Rod and Kathy Hall

Rod and Kathy Hall are beginning their 17th year as dedicated volunteers to the American Lung Association. By offering their time and passion to the annual Bakersfield Bike Trek fundraiser, Mr. and Mrs. Hall have helped the American Lung Association raise over $855,000 to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.

Mr. and Mrs. Hall have served many roles at the bike trek fundraiser. They have cooked, served as rovers (helpers who drive along the trail and address problems like flat tires and broken bikes) and given general event support, all with willing attitudes and commitment to the cause of lung health. Even in the midst of difficult economic times, the Halls plan to volunteer this year and said that “it means a lot when you have barely anything to give and yet you still give.”

The benefits of the Hall’s commitment to the American Lung Association extend far beyond the bike trek. The large amount of money that they couple has raised over the past 16 years paid for a program that provides free asthma education and assessments to the most rural parts of California. Many residents who cannot afford insurance and have never seen a nurse or doctor about their difficult breathing have received medical attention through this program, made possible through volunteers like the Halls.

The American Lung Association commends Mr. and Mrs. Hall for their passion for lung health and for their dedication over so many years. It is with extreme pride and gratitude that we name Mr. and Mrs. Hall our Volunteers of the Week.
