Ken Beam

Ken Beam has been a volunteer with the American Lung Association of Texas, Dallas/Fort Worth Region for approximately 8 years. Currently, he serves on the Dallas Board of Directors and also serves as Corporate Team Chairman for the local Asthma Walk. Fund raising is a priority and it is also Ken's focus! He has made it his mission to bring in more corporate involvement and more public awareness about our organization and our mission. As CEO/President of Pegasus Logistics Group, his own company set the standard, raising more than $108,000 over their two year involvement with the Asthma Walk.

With his employee base of approximately 100, Ken led a corporate team for the Dallas/Fort Worth Asthma Walk, recruiting 140 team members. His employees and team are motivated by Ken and his son Kyle, who has asthma. The team even calls itself "Kyle's Team." Ken encouraged team fund raising through employee raffles, a charity auction dinner for Pegasus' clients, car washes, yard sales, raffles, a golf tournament/auction, and many more fundraising events. Ken and the employees at Pegasus raised $38,000 for the American Lung Association of Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth Asthma Walk in 2004. In 2005, the team nearly doubled this amount, raising $70,000!

Ken is a heavy volunteer recruiter for the walk, encouraging other teams and sharing his ideas and strategies on fund raising with them. He has been such a motivational speaker for the past two years at our Asthma Kick Off Luncheon and also at the two Walks. Ken is also committed to attracting more corporate contributions to the Lung Association. Through his focus on corporate recruitment and his golf tournament, Ken has brought in such power-hitters as EDS, Merrill Lynch, Gardere, BAX Global, XPRESS Global Systems, Forward Air, Inc., OfficeTeam, LogistiCorp and Towne Air Freight.

Ken's message is strong: he advocates for expanded awareness/education of the importance of maintaining your daily medications to prevent asthma episodes. He is a strong believer in medical compliance for asthma control - he attributes his son Kyle's health to the thorough monitoring of his asthma treatment program! He promotes asthma education in all forms, and is very vocal on the topic! He also promotes cultural diversity within his workplace, as well as our organization.
