Jacqueline Knauss

Jacqueline Knauss volunteers with the American Lung Association of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties in several capacities. She has helped our local office promote our programs in schools. She has devoted tireless hours to our asthma camp, "Camp Wheez." And she has been a strong advocate for healthy living and improving the care for children with asthma.

Jacqueline has been an advocate for us since becoming our "Camp Wheez" mom in 2005. To give just one example of Jacqueline's untiring commitment to our programs, last summer at Camp Wheez 2005, the regular Craft Director was unable to attend one full day of Camp. Jacqueline took control, ran to a local craft store, came up with a great craft project, bought the supplies and ran the activity.

Jacqueline has also worked to integrate American Lung Association programs into a local school. She encouraged her son's school to bring in both the Open Airways for Schools and youth tobacco prevention programs. The school had never implemented these programs before. She has helped the school with Red Ribbon week activities, and promoted ALA's strategic goal of Tobacco-related lung disease will be eliminated in future generations. Finally, she recently attend our Celebrity Waiters Luncheon and her son was our Keynote speaker for the event.
