Hazel Cannon

Mrs. Hazel Cannon has been volunteering with the American Lung Association of Mississippi for the last 4 years. She came to the American Lung Association after retiring as a registered nurse. Her involvement as a volunteer has helped her continue her work and commitment to the community.

Mrs. Cannon began volunteering with the American Lung Association as a Mrs. Claus for a program called Mrs. Claus has a Cause. Through the program she and her elf visited schools and read a special story of how Bizzy Bubbles, Santa's smallest elf, helped Santa quit smoking. She has continued to support the American Lung Association of Mississippi by joining the staff of Camp Wheez-Away. At the camp she was a tremendous help, assisting asthmatic children with their daily needs, handling registration and participating in arts and crafts. Her latest role as a volunteer was to help support the first Asthma Walk of the American Lung Association of Mississippi this past fall; she helped form a team, raise funds and walked the 3 miles in support of the fight against asthma! She is an amazing woman and her help with major events, office work and many other countless jobs are all testaments that she embodies the true spirit of a committed volunteer!
