Debra Gurnari

Debra Gurnari is a Respiratory Therapy Department Manager at Kindred Healthcare in Wyoming Valley, PA and a volunteer of the American Lung Association of the Mid-Atlantic. Debra is a caring and enthusiastic supporter of lung health and the American Lung Association. She has organized the Kindred Fight For Air Walk team and planned the fundraising events for their team, making personal commitment of her time, energy and financial support of the mission. Deb also helps organize multiple fundraisers within her hospital. Much personal effort goes into her very successful Bartenders Night fundraisers, with the support of physicians and staff to raise funds for the American Lung Association.

Debra began the PSRC/Kindred Pulmonary Consortium six years ago, where she partners with medical professionals from all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey. They are invited to get together to learn about a wide range of lung health issues important to the medical community through seminars and sharing best practices information offered throughout this multiday event. This program started with 64 attendees six years ago and now has over 300 attendees who share and learn from each other. The American Lung Association is proud to be a part of this important event. By providing the forum for these professionals, important information on lung health issues reaches a much larger population.

Debra has also been a passionate volunteer for the American Lung Association’s lung health programs and in 1998, she helped create an Asthma Camp for kids called Camp Asthmacadabra. That camp is a successful overnight camp that the American Lung Association runs yearly for local children with asthma to allow them to enjoy a safe camping experience. She also provides American Lung Association supporters with lung health information and education by presenting talks on lungs and lung disease at the annual luncheon in Wilkes Barre. Debra gives of herself out of pure compassion for others and her pure dedication to her profession!
