Charyl Felo

Charyl Felo is the owner of the Harrisburg Gymnastics School, which has partnered with the American Lung Association of the Mid-Atlantic for more than 25 years to hold the Cartwheels for Healthy Lungs Fundraising event each spring. The Harrisburg Gymnastics students pick a date and collect donations from friends, family, and neighbors based on the number of Cartwheels they can turn in a ten-minute time period. This event is held in the center court of a local mall. Many families come out the day of the event for support and many shoppers in the mall stop as they are passing by the event and drop donations in a canister. They enjoy seeing the kids raising money and doing something positive for the community.

The Cartwheels for Healthy Lungs event is a great fundraising event that is easy to do and has brought in thousands of dollars over the many years it has been existence. Not only does the American Lung Association benefit from this event, it promotes the organization in the community. The American Lung Association has a table set up for several hours during event where people can learn about the Lung Association’s work.

The Harrisburg Gymnastics School has some asthmatic students and it helps these students learn more about managing their asthma through American Lung Association programs. The Harrisburg Gymnastics School has also promoted the American Lung Association at other events they hold throughout the year. Over the years, this event has reached hundreds of children.

Charyl and her staff volunteer their time to coordinate the Cartwheels for Healthy Lungs event and are always ready to help where needed. Charyl has supported the American Lung Association for more than 25 years and she deserves this recognition!
