Ajani Dunn

The mission of the American Lung Association, to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, is being achieved through the efforts of volunteers like Ajani Dunn. AJ, as he is known, works at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida and is on the Northeast Region Advisory Board. This close relationship allows him to keep the American Lung Association up to date on all the current research in lung cancer and other lung diseases as well as to share volunteer opportunities for programs, events and advocacy efforts with the Mayo Clinic. Thanks in part to AJ's efforts to spread the American Lung Association's message the Mayo Clinic holds one of the largest Better Breathers Clubs in the area.

AJ is not only an asset when it comes to research and spreading the Association's messages, he is a master fundraiser as well. He serves on the fundraising committee for the Second Annual O2 Green Walk which will take place on October 24, 2009 and has been instrumental in securing Mayo Clinic as a major sponsor ($5,000) as well as getting a large Mayo Clinic Team together for the event. The success of a fundraising team depends greatly on the creativity of the Team Captain and we are fortunate that AJ has taken on this role for the Mayo Team. AJ plans to get the Mayo Team involved by encouraging some friendly competition among the different departments at the clinic.

We truly could not ask for a better volunteer than AJ. He takes pride in his role as a board member and as a committee member. We know we can count on his support for our fundraising events as well as our programs, services and advocacy efforts. For his commitment to the American Lung Association's mission and message it is a privilege to name AJ Dunn Volunteer of the Week.
