Dr. Mark Brown first joined the American Lung Association in Arizona in 1996 and has been consistently active in a variety of roles for the past 20 years. He was, and still is, the medical director for the asthma camp hosted by the Lung Association in Oklahoma.
He is the final decision maker at the asthma camp on medical related issues from how the infirmary is run to whether or not a camper in question should attend camp based on medical need.
Dr. Brown also served as the Camp Planning Committee Chairman for two years.
He led committee meetings, oversaw the work of sub-committees, ensured adequate program funding and protected the integrity of the overall program. In addition to these official roles he is constantly recruiting campers and volunteers, soliciting for medical donations, and is willing to go on any funding call to speak about the camp.
He doesn't limit himself to just one program or one way he can help and influence the impact of asthma. He has consistently participated in Lung Association walk events and is co-investigator for the Airways Clinical Research Centers. He has been instrumental in establishing stock albuterol inhaler programs for two school districts and is working on a program in Pima County.
Dr. Brown doesn't stop there, he's even been known to pull his local band together to have concerts in the park to raise money for Camp Not-A-Wheeze and just this year he came to the Lung Association staff with a family in mind to lead a camp endowment effort.
From the moment he started volunteering with the Lung Association, Mark has been wholly committed to our mission and goals. Throughout his work and community involvement, he seems to always have his Lung Association hat on looking for opportunities and partnerships to advance our goals and initiatives. His leadership and engagement are unparalleled.
