Fred Muente

Fred Muente has been volunteering with the American Lung Association in Wisconsin for approximately 21 years.  Rain or shine, Fred helps out every Monday, plus additional days as needed.  He is a true “Jack-of-all-trades," pitching in anywhere an extra pair of hands is needed.

Fred began as a mailroom volunteer.   Soon, we discovered his love of golf and channeled that passion into becoming one of our key volunteers for the annual Golf Classic outing.  Every August, Fred and his grandson could be found on the greens, or helping out with the dinner for this major fundraising event.  When that event was discontinued several years later, he continued working to market and fulfill orders for the Golf Privilege Card.  Fred’s love for golf continues to this day with a standing round every Tuesday with his buddies.

Fred has also been a mainstay at the hospitality table for the annual Fight For Air Walk.

He chose to volunteer for the Lung Association because of cancer in his family, and because he believes we are a “good cause,” he is very happy to assist us in any way possible.

Although now retired, Fred began his career in the USAF and was discharged as a Major.   He then worked as a Production Manager/Graphic Coordinator for Cramer Advertising, later changed to Cramer Krasselt, one of Milwaukee’s largest marketing and advertising firms.  He retired in 1986.

Fred has been married to his sweetheart, Ginny, for 63 years.  He has two children and five grandchildren – two of which are Eagle Scouts.
