The event raised $401,000 to support the Lung Association’s programs, research, community outreach and advocacy efforts to help people with lung disease.  It was the largest Gala event in the Lung Association’s history.

The 2012 O2 Oxygen Ball – On the Wings of Hope was held Saturday, May 5 at the Milwaukee Art Museum.  For the first part of the evening, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and bid on Silent and Super Silent Auction items.  A catered dinner and program immediately followed, with games, entertainment by the Skylight Opera Theatre and Live Auction.  Jonathan Green, former afternoon drive host, was the Emcee.  Dessert and dancing to the Eddie Butts Band closed out the evening.

Highlighted in the program was a video featuring Elizabeth Hoffmann who is battling lung cancer.  Elizabeth, whose cancer was caused by exposure to radon in her home, was diagnosed over eight years ago.  She attended the event and received a standing ovation after the video for her courage and determination to beat the disease.

The Lung Association would like to thank the O2 Oxygen Ball co-chairs for making this event a huge success.  They are Bill and Sandy Haack, Rick and Tracey Klein, and Ann and Warren Pierson.
