1st Annual Fight for Air Ride

(August 3, 2011)

Brookfield, WI  (July 27, 2011) –  On August 27, cycling enthusiasts are invited to ride the Lake Country Recreation Trail in Delafield, WI as part of the American Lung Association in Wisconsin’s first annual  Fight For Air Ride.  Cyclists choose from 15, 30 or 62 mile routes around Waukesha County’s scenic Lake Country to support the Association’s fight for clean air and healthy lungs.

“Our participants range from avid cyclists to beginning riders,” explains Sue Swan, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Wisconsin.  “They ride as a great physical challenge or in honor or memory of a loved one.  Some ride to celebrate their own success in beating lung disease, or quitting smoking.”

All routes begin and end at the Delafield Fish Hatchery, 417 Main Street, Delafield. Riders choosing the 62 mile route will begin at 8:00am; 30 mile riders start at 9:00am and 15 mile riders at 9:30am.  Routes will be staffed with Route Marshalls, SAG vehicles, mechanical support and rest stops stocked with beverages and snacks. Riders are invited to stay at the finish and enjoy lunch and live music by Oconomowoc’s own Ruby Street band.

Registration is $25 for the 15 mile ride and $35 for both the 30 and 62 mile rides.  In addition, there are minimum fundraising requirements -- $75 for the 15 mile ride and $150 for the 30 and 62 mile rides.  Registration fee does not count toward fundraising totals.  Cyclists may participate as individuals or as part of a team. Helmets are required of all riders.
