Mary Partridge, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Recipient

Mary is symbolic of all that is wished for in a volunteer: dedicated, passionate, mission-oriented, reliable, talented, connected, giving, professional, hard-working, energetic, creative and so much more. She is the full volunteer package!

The American Lung Association has been so very lucky to count Mary among its volunteers for over 34 years. She has served with distinction at all levels of the nationwide organization: local, state, regional and national. In fact, she is one of the very few individuals to have served in the top volunteer leadership role, as Chair of the Board of Directors, at both the field and national levels.

Mary was a tireless advocate for the American Lung Association speaking on our behalf with donors, legislators and funders. Mary never left any stone unturned to find support for our mission. She always had a copy of how American Lung Association serves our community in her “back pocket” and could make the case with great conviction for support of our mission.

Since her National Board term of service expired, Mary has continued to be active with the Plains-Gulf Region. She currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Austin Leadership Council and served as the Chair of the 2012 Fight for Air Climb in Austin. Mary has been generous of her time in other ways, lending her professional expertise pro bono over the years to facilitate sessions for field associations and the national association in strategic planning, staff development and Board governance. Her curriculum vitae includes a long list of professional and community organizations in which she has been involved.
