Mike Binger

Long-time Lung Association Supporter

Mike Binger began raising funds for the American Lung Association in South Dakota during the 1980’s. For the past four years he has participated in our Fight For Air Walks and was the top fundraiser in 2011, 2010 and 2008.

Prior to walking, Mike used his bicycle as a vehicle (literally and figuratively!) to raise funds for the Lung Association. Mike rode in the organization’s bicycle rides on the east side of the state and then became a regular of the annual Black Hills Bicycle Trek Classic, an event that was held from 1987-2001 and featured routes to Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon and Bear Butte – some of the most picturesque, historic spots in the state but also in very mountainous country. When the event ended, Mike decided to try something new and raised funds in 2004 to ride across the state of South Dakota, border to border. Even thought he walks in our events now, Mike still enjoys bicycling and participates in events like Ragbrai and the MS 150.

Mike’s fundraising efforts have made a significant contribution to our research, education and advocacy efforts and also introduced the American Lung Association in South Dakota to hundreds of donors in Sioux Falls through his door-to-door fundraising. Thank you, Mike, for your dedication to the Lung Association. We appreciate your support!
