Jean Snyders

Jean Snyders is a member of the American Lung Association in South Dakota Local Leadership Board and an active volunteer with our organization. We’re proud to put her efforts in the spotlight and are thankful for her support!

Jean volunteered with our Asthma Camp for an amazing 20 years and served as Director of the camp for 15 of them. She says she loved every minute and we know the kids did too. In 2007, Jean was selected as the Helpline Volunteer of the Year for her service and, after her retirement from camp, she joined the Local Leadership Board to continue her service. Jean helps us to train local daycare staff in Asthma 101, works at registration for our Walk, and volunteers in other program areas.

Jean is the Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. She also works on a PRN basis for Avera Heart Hospital. She attended Avera McKennan Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy and in 2002 was recognized as the South Dakota Society of Respiratory Care Therapist of the Year and November 2010 Avera McKennan Employee of the Month.

Jean has two daughters, a son, and three grandsons. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, reading and attending sporting events.  Her commitment to children who have asthma has impacted the lives of hundreds of children over the years and we couldn’t be more thankful to have a volunteer like her!
