Advocate

The American Lung Association in Oregon is dedicated to saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. Our advocacy efforts are focused on state legislation and we support efforts and seek changes that will help everyone in Oregon breathe easier.  Policy priorities include working for healthy, clean air; promoting policies for better lung health; and working to support strong tobacco prevention and control laws.  Through our advocacy efforts, we are working toward making Oregon a better place to breathe.

The ALAO is a member of the Tobacco Free Coalition of Oregon. Through our partnership, we are working toward making Oregon a tobacco-free zone!

Currently, Oregon is working on various public policy and advocacy issues. These include:

• Increasing cigarette/tobacco taxes
• Maintaining funding for tobacco prevention and education programs
• Reinstating enforcement to tobacco retailer inspections, to prevent illegal sales of tobacco to Oregon youth - take action today!

Thank you to all advocates who made our 2012 Tobacco Prevention Lobby Day in Salem a Success!
