The American Lung Association in Oregon is dedicated to saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. Through our advocacy efforts, we are working toward making Oregon a better place to breathe.

Policy priorities include:
-working for healthy, clean air;
-promoting policies for better lung health; and
-working to support strong tobacco prevention and control laws.

Currently, Oregon is working on various public policy and advocacy issues. These include:

• Increasing funding for Oregon's tobacco prevention and education programs
• Increasing the price of tobacco products, as a means of reducing tobacco consumption, especially by our youth
• Policies aimed at protecting people from secondhand smoke
• Policies establishing low carbon fuel standards for transportation fuels
• Action and legislation that will bring increased awareness and attention to lung disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
