Josh Askvig

The American Lung Association in North Dakota is proud to present Josh Askvig as our Volunteer in the Spotlight.

Josh is a member of the American Lung Association in North Dakota’s Local Leadership Board and serves as a Bismarck City Commissioner. While in this position, Josh has been a champion for smoke-free public spaces and voted in favor of a Smoking Ordinance in Bismarck. This issue did come down to a special election vote, but his work during this vote was a huge help to us in promoting its importance. He continues to be a big an avid volunteer.

Josh earned his undergraduate degree at Dickinson State University where the Alumni and Foundation organization presented him with the Outstanding Senior Award. He later earned a Master’s degree at The George Washington University. One of the many other hats he wears is as the Associate State Director for Advocacy for the North Dakota chapter of the American Association for Retired Persons.  In his spare time he is an Arizona basketball fan, a self-described political junkie, and a hunter. He and his wife Crystal have one son and are expecting a new baby daughter. Crystal is due at the end of May.

Josh, thank you for using your leverage to support the Lung Association in the fight for air and for all the work you do on the leadership board!
