Planned Giving
The Emily Bissell Heritage Society
Emily Bissell was a humanitarian whose dedication led her to begin the fight against tuberculosis (TB). In 1907 she sold the first Christmas Seals for one penny each, raising $3,000 to keep a TB sanatorium open. That was only the beginning. Emily dedicated the rest of her life to the anti-tuberculosis movement. Since her time, the American Lung Association has expanded this vision to fight all lung diseases.
In order to honor Emily's humanitarian efforts, the American Lung Association's planned giving society is named for Emily Bissell.
