Volunteer in the Fight Against Lung Disease!

Do you know the pain of lung disease firsthand?  Have you felt powerless as you watched someone you love suffer from asthma, COPD or lung cancer?  Do you worry that the air you and your family are breathing could be making you sick?  Then why not put your passions and talents to work in the name of something you truly care about?   The American Lung Association in New York is looking for volunteers who support our mission and want to make a difference by helping to strengthen our fundraising efforts in the community.

Your hard work will support our research, education, and advocacy efforts to help those struggling with lung disease breathe better and live longer.  Become a part of important and fun initiatives including our signature Fight for Air Stairclimb event series, our community Asthma Walks and the social and corporate events we hold throughout New York.  Or come up with your own ideas for raising funds; the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

Volunteers should be willing to reach out to the community to raise awareness about our events and programs and be comfortable showing individuals and companies ways they can financially support our work on behalf of those suffering from lung illness.  Possible roles include event committee chairs and team leaders.  Assignments could include corporate sponsor and team outreach; securing in-kind donations; implementing local fundraising activities and letter writing campaigns; and attending promotional events.

Flexible hours and assignments based on interest and availability.  Helpful skills include marketing, networking and  fundraising.  Solid communicators with positive attitudes sought.  Connections within the media and/or corporate HR community welcome!

Interested individuals should respond to jdeane@lungne.org.  Thank you for joining our Fight for Air!
