Santarella Selected as Lung Association President & CEO

Statement by Ross P. Lanzafame Esq., Chair of the Board of Directors

Elmsford, New York (October 19, 2009)

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association in New York, I am pleased to announce that Scott Santarella has been selected as our new President and CEO, effective November 2, 2009.

Scott has over 20 years experience in nonprofit marketing, management, fundraising, and science and research awareness.  For the past nine years, he has served as Chief Operating Officer of the national Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.   He has also worked for The Educational Foundation of America, Earthplace, Knights of Columbus, and the March of Dimes Foundation.  Scott has raised more than $250 million dollars during his career as a fundraiser, with special emphasis on securing large multi-year major gifts from individuals and corporations. 

Scott has a degree in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts.  He and his wife Kathy live in Westport, Connecticut.  They have two children.
