In December 1907, the first Christmas Seal was sold by Emily Bissell to raise funds to fight tuberculosis. More than 100 years later, the American Lung Association's Christmas Seal continues to be one of the most effective weapons we have in the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air.

Every year, thousands of people in the north country generously donate to our Christmas Seals ® campaign and use the seals to decorate their holiday cards and gifts.

This year's campaign theme is "Celebrate Another Year." With your support, the American Lung Association in New York is working to ensure that all of us, from children with asthma, to seniors with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and everyone who shares our air can truly celebrate another year together.

This holiday season, north country residents have more reasons than ever to support Christmas Seals. Gov. David Paterson declared December Christmas Seals Month in the state of New York and Emmy award-winning actress S. Epatha Merkerson of "Law & Order" has joined our effort to promote Christmas Seals ® by serving as our chairperson here in New York and nationwide.

Please visit www.ChristmasSeals.org. Your support is vital to our fight for healthy lungs and healthy air.
