Pollution afflicts many Americans
FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 2010
Despite decades of efforts to clean up air pollution, six in 10 Americans live where it often reaches dangerous levels, the American Lung Association reported Wednesday.
Among the worst urban areas cited were Los Angeles; Bakersfield, Calif.; and the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale area of Arizona, USA Today reported. Cities with the cleanest air were Fargo, N.D., and Lincoln, Neb.
Some 175 million Americans live in air-pollution danger zones, according to the report
