(January 21, 2011)

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) The American Lung Association says New York isn't doing enough to protect its residents when it comes to smoking.

The Lung Association's ninth annual State of Tobacco Control report was released Thursday. The report evaluates whether states aredoing what the group considers enough to protect people against the health problems associated with tobacco use. Eight states received all F's and nostates got all A's.

New York received failing grades for the amount ofmoney it spends on tobacco prevention and health-care coverage for cessation. But it earned A's for its smoking laws and cigarette tax.
