Responsibilities:

The Grant Development Coordinator works  closely with the Development and Mission Teams to support day to day activities of the grants division which provides grant-seeking assistance for a seven state region.  Tasks include, but are not limited to: private and public grant opportunity research; grant writing and submission, data input and tracking of grant activities; maintaining a record filing system; and providing additional technical support as requested. The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest (ALAUM) includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researching and reviewing grant opportunities from corporate, foundation, government and other sources.
  • Writing and/or proofing corporate, foundation and government grant proposals
  • Maintaining tracking and filing systems for ALAUM Grant Development.
  • Assisting the Sr. VP of Development and the Sr. VP of Mission in communications, meetings, follow-up and other day-to-day grant development activities.
  • Demonstrating an understanding and commitment to the organization and its mission.
  • Exhibiting the ability to work well with staff, volunteers and donors.
  • Has the ability to travel if required.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Internet applications
  • Experience researching funding opportunities a plus
  • Experience with health organizations is a plus
  • Familiarity with grant development is a plus
  • Interest in expanding skill-set a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timeframes
  • Must be a non-smoker and a non-user of any tobacco
