Peggy Stecklein

Peggy Stecklein is the Community Health Coordinator with Dallas County Public Health.  Her goal is to help create healthier homes, communities and worksites.

Collaborating with others to achieve these goals comes naturally.  Peggy has worked with Central Iowa Tobacco Free Partnership and the American Lung Association in Iowa to jointly approach worksites about creating and implementing tobacco free policies.  Community leaders have also been jointly approached to complete community health assessments.  One aspect of the assessment focuses on tobacco.  Peggy and public health strongly supported Central Iowa Tobacco Free Partnership and the American Lung Association in Iowa efforts for community adoption of tobacco free parks/trails/recreation areas and are pleased that four communities in Dallas County have adopted a policy thus far.

Peggy serves as part of the Dallas County for Positive Choices (DC4PC) group which also works on tobacco prevention issues.  Additionally, as an advocate to protect children from second hand smoke, messages are targeted to parents through public health’s maternal child health home visitation program.
