Congratulations and Thank You to our 2011 Fight for Air Walk Participants!

(October 7, 2011)

On Saturday, October 1, we hosted our 2011 Fight for Air Walk at Principal Park in Des Moines.  Over 500 people attended including 39 teams, 413 participants, and 90 volunteers.

Through the generosity of our donors, we’re on track to raise over $36,000 for lung disease research, education and advocacy with new donations coming in every day. Many of our participants walked in honor or in memory of a loved one and everyone there learned something new about asthma, COPD, lung cancer and other lung diseases from team t-shirts, event signage and inspirational speakers.

Two of our vendors for the day included Chris Cakes and Tyler Wishau.   Chris Cakes is a pancake caterer that holds multiple world records for the most pancakes flipped in an hour as well as the highest pancake toss. Impressive accomplishments indeed, but we were just glad to eat their delicious pancakes on event day!

Tyler Wishau is an avid juggler and medical student at Des Moines University. He competes at the annual International Juggling Festival and has set a world record for the fastest 800m run while juggling. On Saturday, Tyler led the runners in the 5K fun run and adults and children alike had a great time watching him!

We’re so thankful for the support of our Fight for Air Walk participants, sponsors and volunteers and look forward to seeing YOU at the next one!  Visit our event homepage here and consider participating in our Fight for Air Climb this Winter!
