Pulmonary rehabilitation (rehab) is a program that will teach you to live and breathe better with chronic lung disease.  The program is run by a team of medical professions who are specifically trained to treat people with lung disease.  With the team’s help, you’ll learn about your condition and gain skills to help you manage it.  Pulmonary rehab often takes place in a group setting.  This means you’ll have help and support from others with many of the same concerns, fears, and goals as you. A major component of pulmonary rehab is regular exercise and the goal of this is to increase endurance.  On completion of the program, participants are encouraged to participate in 5-6 days of exercise to maintain their level of conditioning.  Regular exercise should now be a part of one’s lifestyle.
